Family Day Care Program

​

Giant Steps has an agreement with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to provide a Family Home Day Care Agency.  Together with our consultant, Giant Steps recruits and supports family home care providers by approving them under the regulations that govern Family Day Homes.

 

We support our Day Home providers through monthly visits, professional development opportunities and an extensive toy & equipment lending library. The DEECD offers subsidized spaces for qualifying families & reduced parent fees for all families registered in an approved day home.

 

Day Home Providers are also supported through the Canada Wide Early Learning and Childcare Agreement (CWELCCA).  Funds are offered as follows:

All new providers are offered a start up grant to support opening their business

ECE leveled providers received a wage supplement

All providers receive a quarterly stipend to support health and wellness which can be used to purchase a personal benefit plans

DEECD will contribute 50% of RRSP funds up to $1800 annually to all providers

All providers who offer care to infants & toddlers receive $10/day in grant money to support costs.

 

The Giant Steps Family Home Agency supports providers in the areas of Hammonds Plains, Tantallon, Timberlea & The Peggy's Cove loop.
